This winter beaver scene, starring ChewBarka, was filmed 2 years ago this week. I waited for him at his favourite winter stopping spot, and he didn’t disappoint. FYI, This winter, the beavers are lodging on the east bank of our river, which freezes over, so I may not see Chewy and his family before spring unless their winter food cache runs out. A beaver getting ready for winter! Last week, just after sunset, I caught a quick video of Georgette adding some wet mud to the top of her lodge. In the fall, beavers in cold climates spend a lot of time adding an extra mud to their lodge because it serves as insulation to help keep the inside of their lodge warm when the outside temperatures are cold.
