L'Oscar que décroche l'actrice pour "Darling chérie" le propulse outre-Atlantique, où il s'impose aussitôt. C'est d'abord "Macadam Cowboy", bouleversant mélo auréolé de trois Oscars, puis "Marathon Man", l'un des plus grands thrillers d'une décennie qui n'en manque pas.
