Going en pointe is not a race. It’s a process that needs to be handled with care. With data, evaluation, and preparation. Every dancer is different. Some may be ready earlier, some later. That’s why teachers must take time to assess, to understand how each student’s strength and alignment are developing. But if you delay it too long, you risk missing the years when the body is most adaptable. The transition from soft shoes to pointe has to happen at the right moment, not rushed, but not too late
