“Sprinkling isn’t baptism” was a common phrase I heard growing up. Not all Protestants think this, but many people in my denomination did! The belief was baptism forgives all sins and is necessary for salvation. Baptism was defined as full immersion, so Catholics (and MANY Protestants) were thought of as not actually baptized and therefore not going to Heaven.
