A supercomputer that is the most powerful in the UK has been made fully operational in Bristol. Technology Secretary Peter Kyle "flicked the switch" on the Isambard-AI machine as the government unveiled fresh artificial intelligence plans.

Britain and Germany signed a wide-ranging friendship treaty on Thursday, deepening ties in areas ranging from defence to transport, to mark Friedrich Merz's first trip to London as chancellor, the latest visit to help reset UK ties with the EU.

It will still have to pass through parliamentary approval. If it goes through, this  would be the first big change to the UK's electorate and voting system since voting age was last reduced from 21 to 18 in 1969.

Emma Watson is temporarily hitting the brakes on driving. Watson, who is known for her iconic role as Hermione Granger in the " Harry Potter " film franchise, has been banned from driving in the United Kingdom for six months, according to U.K. Press Association.

Staff at a university are celebrating after students voted it the best in the UK for teaching. Lincoln-based Bishop Grosseteste University, which has more than 2,000 students, ranked first in three categories in the 2025 National Student Survey.
