Before the Magic met the Cavaliers on Tuesday inside Kia Center, Jalen Suggs went through what he described as a “great workout” that included defensive work, shooting and conditioning when he continued to rehab a left quad contusion. He believed he was close to returning to the court after more than a month off it.

After an MRI on Friday revealed he has a trochlea injury in his left knee, and with arthroscopic surgery being considered, Jalen Suggs is leaving open the possibility that he’ll be able to return before the Orlando Magic’s regular season finishes on April 13.

This is tough news for Suggs and the Magic, who are in desperate need of whatever help they can get -- particularly on the offensive end, where they rank 29th since the return of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, both of whom are hovering around the 30% mark from 3-point range.
