Germany’s captain and Bayern Munich’s star, Giulia Gwinn, is out for the remainder of the Women’s Euro with a knee injury. Gwinn sprained the medial ligament (MCL) in her left knee during a tackle in Germany’s opener against Poland.

Germany captain Giulia Gwinn has been ruled out of the rest of the Women’s European Championship with a knee injury.

Sjoeke Nüsken has been promoted to vice-captain of the German women's team, supporting new captain Janina Minge following Giulia Gwinn's exit from the European Championship due to injury. "We discussed this within the team and also received the message from (coach) Christian (Wück) that Sjoeke will take on the vice-captaincy.
