The United Nations rights chief urged on Friday for warring sides in South Sudan to pull back from the brink, warning that the human rights situation risks further deterioration as fighting intensifies.

The Trump administration “unquestionably” violated a court order when it tried to transfer detainees to war-torn South Sudan without a meaningful opportunity to contest their removal to a place where they might face torture,

The army said its operation which began on Monday was aimed at driving the paramilitaries from their last positions in Khartoum state
