At least three people have been confirmed dead while nine others remain missing after a small boat capsized off the coast of San Diego early Monday.

Crews were searching for survivors. It was not immediately clear how many people were on the boat, a small, open, outboard-powered craft.

At least three people are dead and seven others, including two children, are missing after a "panga"-style fishing vessel washed ashore near San Diego on May 5, authorities said. Crews responded to a report of the overturned vessel off the coast of Del Mar shortly after 6:30 a.m. local time, officials told KABC-TV.
