Call of Duty fans have been warning gamers against playing older titles in the series for years. Because these older titles no longer receive ongoing support, they become a playground for hackers to take advantage of exploits.

Activision last week brought offline the Microsoft Store version of "Call of Duty: WWII" as the company was investigating “reports of an issue.”

Activision has taken one of its Call of Duty games down from the Microsoft Store and PC version of Game Pass, reportedly because multiple PC players had their computers compromised by hackers after playing the title.
