A Russian drone crashed in a field in eastern Poland, according to early findings, Polish officials said on Wednesday, in an incident the nation's defence minister described as a provocation.
A Polish general said early evidence points to the drone having a Chinese engine, and that it was likely "flying very low" to avoid radar.
A military drone that crashed in a cornfield and exploded in eastern Poland early on Wednesday was Russian, the country's defence minister has said. Police said they received reports of the crash around 2 am and found burned metal and plastic debris at the scene near the village of Osiny.
Kamysz, Minister of National Defence of Poland, has confirmed that it was a Russian drone that crashed into a cornfield in Lublin Voivodeship on the night of 19-20 August, and said the violation of Polish airspace was another Russian provocation.

Polish prosecutors and law enforcement officers are investigating the incident in the village of Osiny in Lublin Voivodeship, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Ukrainian border and roughly 70 kilometers (43 miles) north of Warsaw.

Police received the call shortly after 2:00 a.m. At the scene, officers found charred debris of various sizes — metal and plastic — scattered over dozens of meters. They said the origin of the fragments has not yet been established and that the area is still being examined.
