In a few days, the annual MLS All-Star Game will take place at the Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Star players from across the MLS will take on Liga MX. Inter Miami's Lionel Messi is supposed to be one of them.

Lucas Sanabria is one of the newcomers for the LA Galaxy. Elijah Wynder joined the team, as well. Riqui Puig was initially ruled out for the 2025 MLS regular season due to his ACL injury sustained in the 2024 MLS Western Conference Finals.

Due to their roles in the mass confrontation, LA Galaxy defender Emiro Garcés and LAFC midfielder Igor Jesus will be fined for inciting and/or escalating a mass confrontation. LAFC defender Eddie Segura was fined for failing to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner in the 90th minute of LAFC’s match against the LA Galaxy.

With the packed schedule in the first half of the season, Messi certainly needed a rest. However, the punishment for skipping the All-Star game is a one-game suspension — which Messi will face unless Inter Miami can provide documentation of an injury to excuse his absence.
