Just hours after his father unexpectedly passed away, Mark Scheifele stepped out onto the ice to play for the Winnipeg Jets in their must-win Game 6 of their second-round playoff series against the Dallas Stars.

For Scheifele, Game 6 was a way to honour his dad. It ended with heartbreak, but not without courage in the face of a devastating loss.

Stars head coach Pete DeBoer called Scheifele a “courageous young man” after he played following his father’s death.
