Tanganyika Wildlife Park has welcomed a rare new arrival: a male pygmy hippo named Mars.

African safari and wildlife expert Rob the Ranger spots a resident hippo swimming peacefully near guest rooms at Lalashe Mara Ripoi Dam.

Public voting has ended, and the newest pygmy hippo calf at the Tanganyika Wildlife Park now has a name.

After some time in New Mexico, the fawn made the trek to San Diego and will now call the Safari Park home, at least for a little while.

A beloved and massive 65-year-old animal — the oldest of his kind in the Americas — living out his days at a Florida wildlife park has died.

Lu the hippo died June 8. He had been at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park since 1964, and was 65 years old.
