A family of a Texoma resident received a flag in honor of a distinguished veteran in Denison Friday. First Lieutenant Rory A.

Vietnam veteran presented one of his own Purple Heart medals to a 93-year-old Korean War veteran from Miamisburg who received a Purple Heart coin while his medal is still being processed.

The Purple Heart is awarded to military members who are injured and killed in combat, through an act of terrorism or by friendly fire. It acknowledges the physical sacrifice of service to the nation.
