Strong winds and the potential for dangerous surf and coastal flooding are prompting a Weather Impact Alert for Wednesday night and Thursday.

Slow-moving downpours and thunderstorms are increasing the chances for flash floods in the Hampton Roads region Thursday evening.

The alert was sent to all of Ramsey County, the sheriff's office there said, following robberies at gunpoint at two gas stations in Roseville and one in Little Canada, Minnesota.

Emergency services are on high alert after the SA Weather Service warned of severe thunderstorms in central and northern Gauteng, parts of Limpopo, and most of the Mpumalanga Highveld.
