Winning the James Beard Award almost didn't happen Doyle submitted his project to the committee toward the end of 2024. He found out that he was actually nominated in early 2025.

In the end, winning the award on his own was quite special, because Doyle's project was self-published as he went up against two of the major media outlets in the United States.
