On Sunday, DeKalb County police responded to a report of a drowning along the 3400 block of Brook Rose Lane. When officers arrived, they found a body in a creek in the woods. The victim was only identified as a 35-year-old man. At this time, DKPD said there are no obvious signs of foul play.

DeKalb County fire officials said crews are responding to the 1100 block of Briarcliff Rd NE, which appears to be a townhome or condo complex.

DeKalb County police started these one-stop-shop hiring events last year. The department hosts them quarterly. They include psychological exams and other job screening protocols. Major Nicole Rutland said the department is always looking for good men and women to wear the badge.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers responded to the 2600 block of Wesley Chapel Road in reference to a person shot shortly before 6:40 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 25-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the parking lot.

DeKalb County has lifted the state of emergency put in place due to winter weather earlier this week. CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson announced it had been lifted on Thursday, Jan. 23.

More than 100 cars have been left stranded across the county, including a fire truck that got stuck on Rockbridge Road. “Over the past 24 hours, we have already rescued over 200 individuals who were stranded on our roadways,” Cochran-Johnson said.
