Real numbers are, in fact, pretty much any number that you can think of. This can include whole numbers or integers, fractions, rational numbers and irrational numbers.

Rational numbers can be fractions of integers. Irrational numbers cannot be expressed as ratios. Decimal representations help identify them. Pi and Euler's number are irrational.
