A consumer who is suspicious of a pest-control operator should ask to see the operator’s license. Pest-control operators are prohibited from performing certain acts by Chapter 487.

Companies that have operators certified in all four categories may offer total pest-control services; otherwise they may offer only the services for which they have a certified operator.

According to Jonah Ormond, registrar of the toxic chemicals control board, as it stands, there is no person or business licensed to function as a pest control operator.
