According to Google’s François Beaufort, the latest Chrome OS Canary build includes native support for network file shares such as Samba.

Chrome OS is finally adding support for peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, which will make sharing files via Quick Share faster and more convenient.

A new Chrome OS flag has appeared that enables the Quick Share feature by default. Quick Share is Google’s local file sharing service that works between Android, Chrome OS, and Windows.

Thanks to an upcoming change, it appears that Quick Share on Chrome OS devices might be much faster.
