Owners believe DeadBolt obtained access using Asustor's EZ Connect software, which enables customers to connect to their NAS systems from anywhere in the globe.
The DeadBolt ransomware is now targeting ASUSTOR NAS devices by encrypting files and demanding a $1,150 ransom in bitcoins.
Asustor advises disabling EZ Connect — which lets users access device data remotely — then performing a full backup, as well as switching off Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) services.
