Cerner Corp. is preparing to sell part of its software portfolio in Germany and Spain. It has recently worked to increase its adjusted operating margin to 22.5% by the end of 2020.

Cerner has partnered with Jive Software to implement Jive's enterprise communication and collaboration solutions into Cerner's online community forum for providers.

Cerner will sell a portion of its software products for about $248 million to CompuGroup Medical, a German healthcare software company, according to a Feb. 5 Kansas City Business Journal report.

The investment in health software company Lumeris indicates Cerner's willingness to look beyond itself for more growth, though the payoff won't come immediately.
