The Islanders re-signed Tony DeAngelo to a one-year deal 90 minutes before the opening of free agency. Per Frank Seravalli, the deal is for $1.75 million.

DeAngelo, a 29-year-old right-shot defenseman who specializes on the offensive side of the game, joined the Islanders midway through last season after a stint with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL.

In addition to DeAngelo, the Islanders got another key bit of housekeeping done by re-signing Simon Holmstrom to a two-year deal at a reported $3.65 million per annum.
