On Thursday night, the Panthers closed out their preseason with a 19-10 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. While Carolina did not play their starters and a handful of other key players, the result was still a little disappointing for a team trying to find its groove ahead of the fall.

It’s the final tune-up before the regular season kicks off and while Carolina Panthers starters will sit this one out, don’t count this game as meaningless.

Carolina is expected to sit its top two quarterbacks, Bryce Young and Andy Dalton, giving the Steelers’ defense another potential edge early in the game. While the Panthers finalize a battle for the third QB spot, Skylar Thompson will try to wrap up the No. 3 QB job for Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Carolina Panthers in week 3 of the NFL preseason on Thursday at Bank of America Stadium.

The Steelers might’ve dodged a bullet with rookie Derrick Harmon appearing to have avoided a serious injury in the team’s Thursday preseason win over the Carolina Panthers. However, Harmon’s injury was one of two that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin highlighted after the win.

The Panthers will sit most of their starters, head coach Dave Canales said, while the Steelers will only assuredly sit four of their players -- quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver DK Metcalf, outside linebacker T.J. Watt, and defensive lineman Cam Heyward.
