Southeast Michigan faces the highest risk with downbursts capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 MPH and the potential for localized flooding from slow-moving storms.
At 6:36 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service released an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 7 p.m. The warning is for Clay, Caldwell, Clinton and Ray counties.
Strong thunderstorms are expected to start firing up in the early evening Wednesday. And some storms could dump 2 to 3 inches of rain in one hour, forecasters say.
Damaging winds and hail so large it could cause injury to people and animals and damage buildings was expected with the storms.
Rain and storms will be possible across all of Alabama on Saturday, but a few severe storms could also be in the mix. Above is the severe weather outlook for Saturday. Areas in dark green in north and north-central Alabama have a Level 1 out of 5 severe weather risk today. Storm Prediction Center
Sunshine will stick around into the end of the weekend on Sunday, and we will keep a little cloud cover around as well behind the cold front that moves through Saturday late night. High temperature is cooling down just a bit, will drop into the middle 80s by the end of the weekend on Sunday.
