John Cena Says WWE Crown Jewel Match Was His Rightful 'Sendoff' To Retiring AJ Styles
WWE legend John Cena has discussed why it was important for him to give AJ Styles the right farewell when they clashed at Crown Jewel last year.
While speaking on Rewind, Recap, Relive in a new interview, Moose was asked about Styles’ retirement from the world of professional wrestling, noting that he is happy for everything AJ accomplished in his career.
“Let me give you something to talk about. So, everybody wants to say, ‘Oh, WWE put him [AJ Styles] in the Hall of Fame so that he couldn’t go to AEW.’ Guys, I am retired from wrestling in the ring. Like, that’s all this is. I make my own choices, I make my own decisions. I was ready.”
AJ Styles is finally putting a timeline on the end of his run. The WWE veteran, who’s been called “The Phenomenal One” for most of his 25-year career, says 2026 will be his final year inside the ropes. Styles has been hinting at this move all year.
