A blizzard warning is in effect for central and southern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Saturday night through early Monday, which includes the Twin Cities.

A powerful Pacific System will bring widespread valley rain/snow, heavy mountain snow and strong winds tonight. Precipitation will then continue through Saturday.

Lake effect snow bands could drop 5 to 9 inches across the county, with 45 mph wind gusts expected to slash visibility during both Tuesday commutes.

Widespread winter storm warnings have been issued across the Midwest on Thursday ahead of the significant storm.
