Samsung is one of the last button nav holdouts — most other Android OEMs, like Motorola and OnePlus, joined Google in effectively defaulting to swipe-based gesture navigation years ago.

Samsung defaults its devices to the three-button setting, and doesn’t present users with an option to pick between buttons and gesture navigation during setup on a new Galaxy device.

Google may soon add an option to flip Android's navigation bar, making the transition from Samsung Galaxy to Pixel phones even easier.
