You can make Excel always open old spreadsheets in Protected View. Enable or disable Protected View using in-built setting, Group Policy, Registry.

If you'd like to view a spreadsheet containing the names of files and programs on a specific drive, you can create one using your command window and Microsoft Excel.

Click "Save." Excel saves the spreadsheet as a comma-delimited file. Open Windows Explorer and find the file. Right-click it to display a menu of options.
