ATLANTA — Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 4 has more than 160 people, representing 30 federal agencies, operating out of its Regional Response Coordination Center in Atlanta.
FEMA Region 4 Administrator Gracia B. Szczech approved the state’s request for assistance in Bay County on March 6, as the fire threatened to become a major disaster.
Sullivan said the team is assigned to FEMA Region 4 which covers North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He said they could end up in any of those three states if the need it great.
Toro said FEMA region 4, which includes 8 states, will maintain close communication with Georgia and South Carolina Emergency Management, as well as U.S. Homeland Security.
