An 11-year-old boy died after going into Cypress Creek to try to save a friend Thursday evening, authorities said. "It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that the search for the 11 year old that fell into Cypress Creek has ended.

Harris County authorities recovered an 11-year-old child who fell into the water in Spring on Thursday. The child drowned. Note: The video above is from an earlier report. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said it happened along Cypresswood Drive near Kuykendahl Road.

The search for the child began at around 7 p.m. Thursday after he fell into the creek near the 3700 block of Cypresswood Drive in Spring, north of Houston. By around 8 p.m., rescue teams were searching the water for the young boy.
