Avian influenza has been detected in wild birds in 10 Kentucky counties, including in a dead Canada goose in Kenton.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is tracking avian influenza cases in wild birds and mammals, with positive test results reported in 10 counties since October.

Experts say it has been reported in 10 Kentucky counties, including Jefferson and Franklin. Infected birds can spread it through saliva, mucus and feces. People can become infected if they inhale it or if it gets into a person's eyes, nose or mouth.
