The Washington Commanders have a new offensive coordinator, and everything about the job has connections to the Arizona Cardinals. Former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury held the position for the last two seasons, but he and the team parted ways, as he seeks other opportunities. He has been connected to a couple of head coaching positions.

That's an impressive accomplishment in itself, though when you factor in his position on the depth chart in Arizona's offensive system under coordinator Drew Petzing and only eight catches for 52 yards in his first five games, Wilson's strong finish to the year is on a whole different level.

The Arizona Cardinals are firing coach Jonathan Gannon, per CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones. The news comes after Arizona finished Gannon's third season 3-14 by losing its final nine games. Overall, Gannon finishes his tenure in Arizona with a 15-36 record.

According to NFL Network's Camaron Wolfe, the Cardinals put in a request to interview New England Patriots tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Thomas Brown. The Patriots play in the first round of the playoffs this week, hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, so Brown cannot interview until next week for the first time.

Arizona's locker room largely supported Gannon, which contributed to some of the surprise when Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill made the decision to fire him after three years at the helm. But, like McBride said, the move was understandable from all aspects.
