Chelsea defender Levi Colwill says the Club World Cup “will be bigger than the Champions League” in the future. Colwill, 22, played the full game as Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 during Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

By any measure it was one of Chelsea’s best ever campaigns, with their Club World Cup triumph – placed on a par by Maresca to winning the Champions League – following victory in the Uefa Conference League and a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Germain will face off on Sunday, July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New York, marking their first-ever meeting in a tournament final. Both teams earned their place by defeating South American powerhouses — Fluminense and Real Madrid — in the semifinals.
