As Hurricane Erin moves away from the United States, the National Hurricane Center is watching three waves in the tropics for possible development – including at least one that could form this weekend.

As of Tuesday, it is the third feature in the Atlantic being tracked by the agency, behind another tropical wave and Hurricane Erin—which is both the first hurricane and first major hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season.

Hurricane forecasters continued to track a tropical wave off the coast of Africa Sunday morning as Hurricane Erin weakened to a Category 3 storm following an eyewall replacement cycle.
