India's Tata Capital plans to launch an initial public offering in which the non-bank lender will issue 230 million new shares, while current shareholders will exit through the offer for sale route, it said on Tuesday.

Financial services company also approves rights issue of Rs 1,504 cr as it moves to comply with RBI regulations

The upcoming Tata IPO is likely to be a mixture of both fresh issues and offers for sale (OFS). Apart from this, the board has approved a rights issue worth Rs 1,504 crore in Tata Capital for existing shareholders.

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) guidelines mandate upper layer NBFCs including Tata Capital to get listed by September this year. Tata Capital’s parent company Tata Sons, meanwhile, has filed an application with the RBI to de-register itself as a NBFC-core investment company.

During the financial year 2024, Tata Capital posted its highest-ever net profit of ₹3,150 crore, a growth of 37% from last year. It maintained a credit cost of 0.5% and delivered Return on Equity (RoE) of 17.
