Luis Sharpe, a 3-time Pro Bowl selection widely regarded as the best left tackle in Cardinals franchise history, has died at the age of 65.

First reported by Kevin McCabe, former Cardinals Luis Sharpe died peacefully of heart failure on Friday. He was 65 years old. Sharpe was a first-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982 and he was their starting left tackle for 13 seasons from 1982-1994. He made three Pro Bowls and named to the All-Pro second team twice.

"My heart aches tonight, learning that former Arizona Cardinal star OL Luis Sharpe has died,“ he posted on Twitter. ”An NFL Pro Bowler, who struggled with demons, alcohol and drugs, had been clean and sober for years. He died peacefully of heart failure. Godspeed my friend."
