The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated longtime utility man Chris Taylor for assignment, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

Even winning two World Series titles — and delivering in some clutch moments along the way — doesn’t guarantee a roster spot with the Dodgers anymore. Backup catcher Austin Barnes learned that earlier this week.

Taylor, 34, came to the Dodgers in a 2016 trade with the Seattle Mariners for right-hander Zach Lee in a swap of underperforming players. But a swing adjustment to supply more power, and the addition of outfield play, turned him into a valuable contributor.
