When Brian Mueller became president of Phoenix’s Grand Canyon University in 2008, he prioritized the school’s men’s basketball program to be the front and center marketing for the university.

Mueller presented a vision of moving from Division II to Division I, and Colangelo, with his connections, was able to help expedite the process. This is GCU's 12th year in Division I.
