Fellow members of the Biden administration say she was often an ineffective messenger as press secretary and her book is unhelpful to Democrats trying to rebuild following last year’s election losses.

The book’s publisher Hachette, calls it a “groundbreaking, revelatory assessment of America’s broken two-party system” and states that the former flack will take readers “through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision.”

Jean-Pierre, who served as former President Joe Biden ’s top spokeswoman for nearly three years, revealed the move alongside news of her book, Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, set to be released on Oct. 21.
