It did help that we had a glorious cloudless March day but what a magical place Tiritiri Matangi is! The replanted natives are well on their way to being a shaded forest and the birdlife is incredib…Full review by Freedom45076966549

What a fantastic day trip. Have previously been put off by the ferry price because it's the same price for the short (3.5km trip) from Gulf Harbour as it is from Auckland. That aside, that is the on…Full review by M0xie4

Hi, you can leave your car at the Gulf Harbour ferry carpark for the duration of your stay. Be sure when you book your ferry tickets that your departure is from Gulf Harbour.
Hi are you allowed to take your own boat and anchor off Tiritiri Matangi and take a tender in and join the walking group at 10.15am .? Thanks Andy
A:
Yes, but there's a fee of $10 payable to the guide or at the end of the tour. And also double check that you are not bringing anything you shouldn't onto the island.
Hi, if I was to kayak or make my own way to Tiritiri, can I still get onto a guided tour? When do they run? Or can I just walk around on my own?
A:

Morena, yes you certainly can kayak over to Tiritiri - just check the wind and tides first though I'm sure you are aware of that. Also we ask you to check your kayak for any stowaways - plague skinks, mice and rats. The guided walks go from the wharf at 10:15am Wed to Sunday and are $10 which you can pay in the shop at the end of your walk or you are always free to wander around on your own. Please keep to the tracks, the bush and un-mown grass is for the birds and reptiles! See you on the Island soon I hope.

Yes, you can stay on Tiritiri Matangi Island. The Department of Conservation have a bunkhouse which can be booked through their website. There are 15 beds available but weekends are often busy and difficult to get a bed. We don't run night walks but can certainly give lots of advice on the best places to go and can give you red cellophane for your torch. I hope we'll see you on the Island soon.
